Breitling has long excelled at crafting complicated yet utilitarian timepieces.
For the Montbrilliant series — named after the company’s first manufacture on Montbrilliant Street in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland — Breitling chose to build off of its famed Navitimer platform to offer useful complications in unique pairings. This Eclipse, for example, combined the Navitimer’s chronograph with a whimsical moonphase display.
Housed in a 41mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal, a signed crown, dual barrel pushers, and a ridged tachymeter bezel, it features a silver dial with multiple timing scales, luminous ‘Arabic’ indices, a lumed ‘dauphine’ handset, a dual-register chronograph, a date window at 3 o’clock, and a moonphase display at 6 o’clock.
Powered by the automatic Breitling Calibre 843 movement based on the workhorse Valjoux 7750 platform, the Montbrilliant Eclipse comes paired to a black leather strap with a signed stainless steel pin buckle and includes its inner box.
Well sized and playful, this is a fun and useful chronograph that’s sure to put a smile on your face!
